2. The Ritual of a Silver Ring

The Ritual of a Silver Ring

Once upon a time…a young girl found a little silver ring, she put it on and lived happily ever after… till she was eighteen or so… the ring was moving from one finger to another, and ended up in a small box, because her little fingers were not little anymore, and she had a very nice ring that her only love in her life gave her as a symbol of his endless love and wish to marry her…

Few days before her wedding she was cleaning up her jewelry box, she found the little ring again ,,,and it did not fit her finger anymore. That moment reminded her on how much she loved that ring… so she setup her mind to go to her friend and ask him to do an exact replica of the ring… but at a size that can fit her fingers… and she promised that she will keep it next to her wedding ring…

The silversmith was a dear friend to her and he always wanted to make her happy… she urged him to make it ready before the wedding so she can wear it on that day… that request made him so happy, he spent the whole night making it, till it became a master piece, that he himself fell in love with that ring, and he was the happiest silversmith on earth because his best friend will wear it on her wedding night…

Next day she goes to see the ring…

She and he exchanged glances and looks that no words in the world can say…

He asks her then to stay till he finishes with his customers, because he wanted to see the ring in her finger… so she sat down and started to drink the cup of coffee that he offered her…

One of the customers approached her and told her: “women in my country insist on having gold as ring or neckels… name it… but we men we are not suppose to wear gold even our weeding ring is silver… it is the custom that gold is too much luxury for a man. So am wondering if this wonderful silver ring is for your to-be husband…”

She looked at him and said, “no it will be for our future daughter or son. I will make sure to tell them the dreams I had when that little ring was moving from one finger to another”.

The she told him; “in my country cherishing everything in life is our saving for future”.

Then a young nun approached her and told her; “unfortunately, we are not allowed to wear such silver ring. They gave me this plane ring to wear when I started at the convent, it is so big now, that I need to fix it before the ceremony in which I declare my vows… it is already slipping out of my left finger… I wish they allow us to wear such nice rings…. I think Jesus deserves better rings”.

She looked at her and said “I envy you for your devotion… God looks at your devotion and prayers for those who are in agony. Your devoted heart to the needed will make your tears of true love more value than any diamonds …”

Then the nun looked at her with tear in her eyes, “please pray for me … for I have a long path to walk…”

Then there was a marine biologist just jumped into the conversation, and said…”someone noticed that dolphins create silver rings made of air bubble under water, and I can assure you that it is a beauty beyond any description…”, then he continued “and nobody knows why dolphins would do that…”

Everybody looked at him, then the silversmith said…”My friend I just heard more unspoken words than a book of 5000 pages can hold…”
